Unveiled – Zoom Help

Depending on what type of computer, tablet or phone you have? Or how old your device is – Zoom may appear differently for different people. We have a support ticket in with Zoom to see if these things can be altered at an administrative level, but for now – here is how they can be altered at an individual level according to personal preference. Following up on a few questions from yesterday’s sessions:

  • Would you like to disable the chat notifications you see if they’re distracting for you? Here’s how to do so on a computer or smart phone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCeUoGa5MdE
  • If you have a newer version of Zoom and are annoyed at seeing the logo for the event during the conference?
    • Turn off “side by side” mode by: Turn off “Side by Side”
    • Alternatively, click on the main tool bar and click “hide video pannel”

Unveiled – Rev. Dean Rostad

The Rev. Dean Rostad serves as the president of the Canadian Lutheran Bible Institute.

He is a west coast boy from Chilliwack BC. He was raised in a loving Christian home by parents who have a heart for Jesus. His parents modeled their faith through dedicated service at their church (Christ Lutheran). God used Camp Luther in Mission BC to vitalize his faith and form his heart for ministry. It was there where he started to recognize a call to ministry and was introduced to CLBI.

After attending CLBI (1990-92), Pastor Dean was privileged to serve as Youth Director at Messiah Lutheran Camrose (1992-95), Program Director at Camp Luther (1996-2002), Director of Communications and Leadership Program at CLBI (2002-2006), and Pastor at Resurrection Lutheran Camrose (2006-2017).

Pastor Den trained at CLBI (BTS), ACTS Seminary (MA), and at the Lutheran Brethren Seminary through which he received his Ordination.

Pastor Dean has been married for 22 years. His family includes his wife, Kim (also a CLBI alumnus), two sons (Luke and James), two daughters (Sonja and Julia), and two dogs (Duke and Daisy).

Pastor Dean’s history with CLBI is lengthy and has included his son Luke, graduating from CLBI this past April and includes his wife’s grandmother attending CLBI in 1932 (its first year).

Pastor Dean loves outdoor activities such as canoeing, all types of skiing, and cycling. He sold his car a while back and bikes year-round. There is nothing that makes him feel more alive than biking with studded tires and ski goggles in a -25 snowstorm.

Unveiled – Rev. David Lerseth

The Rev. David Lerseth – a Lutheran pastor who has served parishes in Rosholt, SD; Peoria (Bartonville), IL; as an assistant to Bishop L. David Brown of the Iowa District/ALC; Aberdeen, SD; and as Director of Global Mission Support for the ELCA, Chicago. Upon retirement, he served as interim pastor at  Ingleside, IL. and also at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Bloomington, MN. He currently serves as the Vice President of the Board of Directors with Friends of Madagascar Mission. A graduate of Augustana University, Sioux Falls, SD; and Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN. Pastor David currently serves with the Great Commission Society Vetting Team (NALC).

Pastor David and his wife, Diane, reside in Victoria, MN. He enjoys landscape gardening, driving his restored 1929 Model A Ford, and doing charitable auctions as a professionally trained auctioneer.

Unveiled – Rev. Tom Hilpert

The Rev. Tom Hilpert, a seasoned church planter, received his bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon, and his Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from the American Lutheran Theological Seminary in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  He makes his home in the woods of Tennessee near Nashville, with his wife, Kari Hilpert, and children, but he spent his formative years in Papua New Guinea, the son of missionary parents.

Currently, Pastor Tom serves New Joy Fellowship in Tennessee and as the director of Life Together Churches.  A ministry partner of the NALC, Life Together Churches, is a network that supports people hosting worship and congregational life in small group environments, such as: house churches, missional communities, and mission fellowships.

Unveiled – The Rev. Paul Krueger

The Rev. Dr. Paul Krueger serves as the senior development officer for the Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch, a recognized ministry of The North American Lutheran Church. With a passion for making the Good News of Jesus Christ known and equipping the people of God, Pastor Krueger has extensive experience as a trainer with Tent Makers, disaster response, and congregational ministry. Prior to his call to serve with the Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch, Pastor Krueger served two different congregations – most recently, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Minot, North Dakota, where he celebrated serving 30 years in ministry. Pastor Krueger received a Master’s of Divinity in Systematic Theology from Concordia Theological Seminary and, in recent years, completed a Doctorate of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary in Missional Leadership.
