The Academy – February 2020

The NALC is committed to the renewal of all our congregations, working to develop and deliver resources that challenge and open the NALC to the work of the Holy Spirit in our ministry and mission.

Bishop John Bradosky writes: “Instead of talking about the process of discipleship, we would like to examine the context of discipleship.  What is the nature of Christian community that nurtures people as faithful followers of Jesus, equips them to reach others with the Gospel of Jesus and provides for their growth and development as disciples of Jesus?  Following the amazing miracle of Pentecost, Peter’s bold preaching, explaining who Jesus is and what He has done for them and the transformation of more than 3,000 people who came to faith in Jesus we read these important words about the formation of the community that was able to sustain and grow the Church, the body of Christ.”*

Sent To The Shadows – The World Mission Prayer League

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. Luke 2:4-6, ESV

Our Christmas cards and children’s programs generally paint a peaceful and serene picture of that evening in Bethlehem when our Savior Jesus was born so long ago. In the candle- scented quiet of our homes or the festooned interiors of our churches, it’s easy to imagine that this is how it was. History, however, tells of our Savior being born into a setting quite unlike this. So does archeology.

Awakening Lives to World Mission

Awakening Lives to World Missions (ALWM) is grateful for our partnership together in the Gospel! In our global mission work, we mobilize and equip congregations to be personally and fruitfully engaged with taking the Gospel to the nations, just as Jesus commanded (Matthew 28:18-20). ALWM International also works directly in Vietnam and Cambodia through our ministries in each country.

From Membership to Mission – Life to Life Discipleship

PART OF GOD’S PLAN TO RECONCILE THE WORLD TO HIMSELF 

I have had the wonderful honor and privilege of discipling many women over the past 20 years. If I were to capture the great joy this has been for me, it would be to echo this verse in Ephesians: 

Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.  (Ephesians 3: 12 NLT)
