{"id":127,"date":"2017-06-21T12:17:51","date_gmt":"2017-06-21T12:17:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/missions.nalcnetwork.com\/?p=127"},"modified":"2017-06-21T20:14:26","modified_gmt":"2017-06-21T20:14:26","slug":"lwr-farmers-market-coffee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/missions.nalcnetwork.com\/lwr-farmers-market-coffee\/","title":{"rendered":"LWR Farmers Market Coffee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Starting this summer, Lutherans in the U.S. will be able to purchase LWR Farmers Market Coffee \u2013 a delicious line of coffee sourced directly from farmers involved in Lutheran World Relief (LWR) projects. <!--more-->LWR is producing this line of coffee in partnership with THRIVE Farmers \u2013 a coffee roaster that shares our passion for helping farmers lift themselves out of poverty, become self-sufficient and be better able to support their families.<\/p>\n<p>Through their purchases, Lutherans will also be supporting and strengthening the work of Lutheran World Relief. For every pound of coffee purchased, THRIVE Farmers Coffee will donate 80 cents back to LWR to continue reaching out to the rural poor around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Just as a local farmers market creates a closer connection to the people who grow our food, LWR Farmers Market will create a closer connection to coffee farmers, and the many ways Lutherans reach out to them through Lutheran World Relief.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-128 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/missions.nalcnetwork.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_8001-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/missions.nalcnetwork.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_8001-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/missions.nalcnetwork.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_8001-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/missions.nalcnetwork.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_8001-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Gustavo Herrera of Nicaragua is one of the farmers whose beans go into the first round of LWR Farmers Market Coffee. Gustavo is proud of the crop he raises, but not just because of its quality. \u201cI am proud that coffee allows me to support my children,\u201d says Gustavo. And not just his children, but Gustavo has been a leader in his community for establishing a school for all children. Asked about the opportunity to share his coffee with the same Lutherans who supported projects in his community, Gustavo says, \u201cThat will be really beautiful to feel like we know you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You and your congregation will get to know Gustavo, other farmers and their families through LWR Farmers Market.
