As it is written in Psalm 107:2: “Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story, those he has redeemed from the foe.” It is through each of us telling the story of what Jesus Christ has done for us through his death and resurrection that changes everything. In John 4, we read how the Samaritan woman shared the story of what Jesus had said and done, and because of her testimony – the whole village believed. Whether it is through countless other examples of stories in Scripture, or the same phenomenon we see occurring in our world today with friends, family, and even strangers – God calls us to tell our stories. When we begin to tell our stories, we realize they are not really “ours” but “his.” Through telling these stories – the body of Christ is built up, strengthened in faith, and knit together. Welcome to MissionConnect – we are “living on mission, telling our stories.”

The Academy – January 2019

American culture is characterized by the word “busy.” There is never enough time, burnout seems inevitable, and the challenge of developing deep relationships is real. To what good things do we say “no” so we can say “yes” to better things? This is a key element in life-to-life discipleship. The real question is: “What are you going to do about it?” Jesus faced this challenge in even greater ways than we do. Relationships are key not just to ministry, but in life.

What Do You Get For A King Who Has Everything?

Dear Friends of the Prayer League,

I love the shepherds and the angels.  I adore the sheep and cattle we also place carefully into the scene.  I prize those images of Mary and Joseph, right there at the center, of course, lovingly watching over the humble manger. And in that tiny feeding trough we find, best and greatest of all, the baby Jesus, sometimes not until Christmas morning.  At least that’s the way we’ve done it in our home.  And I really like it that way.  Continue reading “What Do You Get For A King Who Has Everything?”

Global Confessional and Mission Forum

The Global Confessional and Missional Lutheran Forum (Global Forum) met September 4-6 at the Lisak Resort, Bishoftu, Ethiopia. In August 2015, at the invitation of the North American Lutheran Church (NALC), the gathering of Lutheran church leaders and representatives of reform and renewal communities throughout the world convened, in conjunction with the NALC Lutheran Week in Dallas, TX. The Global Forum met for the second time during the 2016 NALC Lutheran Week in Anaheim, CA and in 2017 in Nashville, TN. The decision was made during the Nashville gathering to meet in East Africa in either 2018 or 2019. Due to the support and encouragement of the Norwegian Lutheran Mission (NLM), the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT), the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus (EECMY) and the North American Lutheran Church (NALC), the dream of meeting in Africa became a reality.  Continue reading “Global Confessional and Mission Forum”

As we have discussed previously, we need your help finding young people who may be discerning a call to ordained ministry! There is a great need today for pastors in the Church—especially those who will be committed to the truth and authority of God’s Word!
