The Academy – February 2019

As baptized disciples of Jesus Christ, living members of His body, our “mission” is to share the good news of His saving death and resurrection with those living in darkness, fear and godlessness, bringing the kingdom—His risen presence—near so that, through God’s Word and Holy Spirit, they may become his followers, baptized into His Church, disciples, with us, in the Kingdom of God.  Continue reading “The Academy – February 2019”

Persistence in Prayer

“O LORD my God, I cried to you for help and you have healed me.” — Psalm 30:2 ESV

I am struck by the beauty and simplicity of Psalm 30. Is there a more complete prayer in such few words than here in verse two? This verse sums up the entirety of our stories. As David prays these words, he calls on God by name as he cries out, addressing the depth of our brokenness. And in the same breath, healing. Mission Update – Liberia

Brethren, the Lord be with you.

The people in Liberia and Victory Ministries send you greetings in the name of Christ. They continue to be grateful for your faithful and continuous prayers, support and desire to see the Lord work in Liberia and the other West African countries. We are preparing for Victory Ministry’s second annual convocation. The church in Duazon will host us from February 14-17, 2019. Please join us as we review our work, discover our shortfalls, develop a new approach and seek the Spirit’s anointing. This year’s theme is: God’s Spirit Anointing God’s Church.

Mission Trip to El Salvador 2019

Last year, Transfiguration Lutheran Church Mission, and several Texas Lutheran churches brought hope and happiness to many poor families during Christmas time in El Salvador. We provided 1000 food baskets and toys for adults and children. In El Salvador, an average family is composed of five members. We helped to provide food for ten days, making a Christmas dinner possible for them. In total, we were able to feed 5000 people. Here is a video that shows the highlights of last year’s event.  Continue reading “Mission Trip to El Salvador 2019”

The Academy – January 2019

American culture is characterized by the word “busy.” There is never enough time, burnout seems inevitable, and the challenge of developing deep relationships is real. To what good things do we say “no” so we can say “yes” to better things? This is a key element in life-to-life discipleship. The real question is: “What are you going to do about it?” Jesus faced this challenge in even greater ways than we do. Relationships are key not just to ministry, but in life.
