From Membership to Mission – St. John’s Lutheran Church

ACTS in Grove City: more than 400 volunteers, 3,500 volunteer hours, and 10 churches united for One Name.

Each year, St. John’s Lutheran Church joins together with nine other churches across Grove City, Ohio. Beginning the day with Scripture, prayer, and worship, teams comprised of members from each church then fan out across the city to serve. Recognized for more than just their bright orange t-shirts each year, these churches join together as the Body of Christ, transforming their community with the love of Jesus Christ and service.

Members of the community have come to look forward to this day because of the encouragement it brings, as well as an opportunity to submit specific needs. The teams complete a variety of tasks, including: general clean up, lawn and garden work, painting, and serving with the Bed Brigade. In 2018, a tornado ripped through portions of the town just days before ACTS was scheduled, providing a unique opportunity to serve.

Recognized by the local newspaper, television stations, and government offices, the churches of Grove City share that they count themselves blessed to serve their community in the Name of Jesus. They look forward to celebrating the tenth year of serving on Saturday, May 18th.
